Trident Lithium Project

The Trident Lithium Project (EL 8736), covering an area of 260km², is located approximately 50km north of Broken Hill in New South Wales.

The project extends over the historic Euriowie Pegmatite Tin Field, where tin was mined between 1884 and the 1930s.  Lithium was first recognised at Lady Don in 1919, and lithium, in the form of Amblygonite, was mined at Trident between the 1940s to 1960s.

Extending over 20 kilometres of strike, numerous pegmatite outcrops are mapped that are intruded into Paragon Group schists that comprise the upper sequence of the Broken Hill metamorphic stratigraphy.  Individual pegmatites can be mapped for several kilometres with substantial widths over several hundred metres, displaying classic LCT-type zonation and mineralogy.

Over 250 mineral occurrences are known to exist in the Euriowie Pegmatite Field.  Historical work has been limited, but historical records confirm that the pegmatites are highly anomalous in Li-Cs-Ta-Sn-Rb.  The only known historic drilling was undertaken in 2010 by Carpentaria at Mount Euriowie, who undertook a tin scoping study.  The Trident Project has never been drill-tested for lithium and the spodumene potential at depth has not been assessed.

Rock chip sampling was conducted by Stelar confirmed high-grade lithium assays from multiple pegmatites, with significant results including:

  • Triumph: 4 – 8.7% Li2O
  • Trident: 2 – 7.9% Li2O
  • Lady Don: 2 – 7.9% Li2O
  • Sceptre: 6 – 7.6% Li2O

Stelar conducted the Phase 1 drill program over the southern area of the project, designed to map orientation and morphology of pegmatites and test for spodumene at depth.

Drilling intersected high-grade lithium up to 8m @ 1.16% Li2O, including 4m @1.85% Li2O, as well as displaying widespread anomalous lithium intercepts associated with pegmatites, including:

  • 32m @ 0.20% Li2O (TRD010)
  • 34m @ 0.13% Li2O (TRD012)

Reconnaissance mapping successfully identified multiple new large zoned LCT-pegmatites of economic-scale, including:

  • Sabre >4,000m strike
  • Pilgrim >2,000m strike
  • Typhoom >1,600m strike
  • Carnival >2,500m strike
  • Trident >3,000m strike

Additional follow up drill programs are planned to quantify lithium grade distribution, minerology and metallurgy.
