The Trident Lithium Project (EL 8736), covering an area of 260km², is located approximately 50km north of Broken Hill in New South Wales.
The project extends over upper sequences of Broken Hill stratigraphy and includes the historic Euriowie Tin Field, where over 250 mineral occurrences are known to exist along a 15km strike.
Numerous pegmatite swarms have been identified in the area which have been exploited for tin and tantalum over the last 140 years.
Historical records confirm fractionated pegmatites in the area as LCT-Type, which are highly anomalous in Li-Ce-Ta-Sn-Rb. The individual pegmatites measure over 1km in length and up to 100m in width.
Outcropping pegmatites contain visible lithium minerals such as amblygonite and lepidolite in outcrop. However, the spodumene potential of the LCT pegmatites remains untested.
Spodumene, which is the main economic lithium mineral, quickly weathers at surface to clay and is rarely observed within 50 metres of the surface. The Trident Project has never been drill tested.
